Focus of the study: The study focused on establishing how different genres, namely fiction and documentary forensic television shows influenced the judgment preferences, reasons, and perception of the evidence by jurors.
Methodology: The study utilized eighty juror respondents selected purposively, who then watched a forty-eight minutes video of a criminal case, Colorado v. Galek. Data collection was through the filling in of three questionnaires. One on their backgrounds, the second on their verdict and third on their viewing habits of forensic television shows.
Findings: The study found out that documentary-style programs were considered more realistic as compared to fictional programs. Additionally, the viewership of fictional programs was directly proportional to the number of fictional programs available while that of documentary style was lower that programs available.
