Every country in the world today seeks or desires to improve or grow their economy. There are challenges to every objective. However, it is always said that there is nothing new under the sun. Therefore, the solutions or the direction a country takes must or is always informed by something that happened in the past. Knowledge is key to finding solutions to the world’s problems. As a student, one should seek to stay informed, and this does not necessarily mean in their course but other aspects of life as well. The goal for all students should be to use their acquired knowledge to help build or propel the world forward. While pursuing my course, I must be ready to take part in the global discussions as well as the local discussions which seek to propel the nation forward. I must be ready to be called upon to help my country and offer my knowledge in the field I am well acquainted. On this note, I embarked on studying the issue of export promotion and how the government can help to increase the nation’s exports. The truth is, improving or increasing the nation’s exports will have a great impact on the economy with the most obvious impact being creating job opportunities for the public.
In my quest to further my research, I found three articles which elucidated further on the topic of export promotion. The articles titled How Should Governments Promote Exports, Ways the Government Can Promote New Exports and Manufacturing Jobs, and What Should the Government do to Boost Exports offered different views on the matter but it was obvious that boosting exports would indeed help the economy. However, instead of getting deeply engrossed in the discussion of export promotion, I opted to analyze the rhetorical appeals of the articles. The articles, as I came to find out, made use of logos, ethos, and pathos in their quest to make their points. The authors used these methods to make their arguments appealing while also trying to drive the discussion forward.
