Abstract
The reporting profession has undergone rapid transformation as a result of the advancement of modern technologies. Evidence indicates that modern technologies have diversified the way reporters collect and broadcast news around the world. Most professionals are able to use their smartphones to gather news without having to rely on the traditional form of journalism that require the presence of a reporter, cameras and other equipment for information to be transmitted. Furthermore, a huge number of reporters are specializing in specific fields of journalisms. For instance, reporters are entering into investigative journalism with an aim of uncovering the hidden truths that are rarely broadcasted in the mainstream media. This paper examines the work of a reporter, the current state of the work, issues that are involved, and the future trends.

There are numerous reasons why a person can work as a news report, with the most fundamental reason being to tell the world what is happening in a specific place, time and situations. Working as a reporter is also a source of earning income and it enables people to cater for their expenses. Historically, reporters have been sources of important information that could not have been accessed by individuals who are not able to travel to regions where the news is taking place (Umair, 2016). Some reporters work for fun, especially the young people who mostly want to learn about the profession and exploit the skills that they gained in class. To these individuals, reporting is considered as a means of sharpening their skills, especially when it comes to the use of the modern technologies while reporting. Journalism is a field that employs both male and female employees, with policies being implemented to bridge the gender gap in workplace and provide equal employment opportunities (Ishikura, 2017). More and more people, especially the young generation, are entering into the reporting profession and specializing in specific fields, such as investigative journalism, medical reporting, or law review. This paper analyzes the work of a reporter and examines the current and future trends in this field.
Current State of work: Reporting is a unique field that enables people to access information on a timely basis. People have often been fascinated by the “way” people report news instead of “why” people report. Reporting is a field that has drastically transformed, particularly with the advent of the modern technology. Currently, people use their iPhones and iPads to record events in real-time as they occur. This implies the reporting industry is changing since people do not have to rely on the traditional media and journalism to gain real-time news. Journalists also tend to work for an extended period of time compared to employees in other occupations since they may be forced to travel far distances to access the source of the information.
