The American contribution to Romanticism
American romanticism started at the end of the 18th century and stretched all the way to the time of civil war. The nation at this time was in buoyant mood for literal expression and romanticisms came answering these questions eloquently (Schneider, 2007). They got influences from the European country that promoted the Romantic Movement in America. Therefore, through the increased magazines, a good playground of romantics was put across.
Romantics in the country were intended to moralize and to educate rather than entertaining. Therefore, through several magazines and literal work, American people were able to transform fast to enlightened society. This was an entire new experience that emerged from European culture that was amalgamated with the American culture. This brought about the exotic landscape in the country, frontier life, westward expansion, the myth of the new garden and the puritan heritage in America that was much embraced by the people bring about many changes in the country and world as a whole (Schneider, 2007).
Through the Romantic Movement, the country produced very great writers. These writers like William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878) who was American earliest naturalist poet who produced a poem with the title “The American Wordsworth.” He is a much-appreciated man in the whole of America as he made America a country worth of celebration (Schneider, 2007). Some of the people who contributed very much during this era are Henry Wordsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) a poet who wrote “fireside poet.”
