National Honor Society
Established in 1929, the National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that has mandate to recognize outstanding performance for high school and middle level students. The board of the organization seeks to honor students who have demonstrated exemplary performance in different fields in the school curriculum. They include scholarship, leadership, service and character. The NHS also encourages and challenges students to be better and develop further their abilities by being actively involved in the school activities. The recognition of students plays a major role in the school community as it encourages and motivates the students to be better in what they do; this develops their talent and helps them identify their life career paths.
The NHS also hosts conferences and programs in various schools on how students can be better and encourage them to achieve maximum results in their endeavors. As a member one is able to get awards for exemplary academic achievement which is a great motivation to work harder and better to achieve more. The NHS also publishes magazines to address certain topics in society and hence assist students be informed on current issues. The highlights of some of my achievements are being in the first team in Varsity Football & Varsity Bowling; Volunteer work as youth Soccer Coach; Captain of JV Football Team & Varsity Bowling Team; work as a Soccer Referee & Playground monitor; Captain recreational soccer & selected to all star game for past 4 years.
