According to Psychology Today, addiction is a condition in which a person engages in the use of a substance or in behavior for which the rewarding effects provide a compelling incentive to repeatedly pursue the behavior despite it detrimental consequences. Addiction involves the release of a pleasure hormone, dopamine, in the brain that helps regulate the brain’s reward and pleasure centers. Addiction is caused by many social, psychological, and environmental factors that have a powerful influence on substance use.
Addiction affects an individual and the people around him or her. The person is unable to work effectively without the substance which he/she is addicted to (Adjective Clause). The performance levels of the individual deteriorate as they become increasingly dependent on the substance. The people
