In scene 4, thanes of Scotland are welcomed by Macbeth and his wife to the banquet. After appearing at a side door, one of the murderers tells Macbeth everything about the mission. That is how they succeeded to kill Banquo and failed to murder Fleance.
The Strength of Each
In the video of the ghost of Banquo haunting Macbeth with Ian McKellen, there is renewal of order and symmetry through Macbeth’s words such as “You know your own degrees.” Macbeth’s suspicious confidence also helps in form of the first murderer.
In the video of the ghost of Banquo haunting Macbeth with the Goold adaptation, he scared even when he was cutting the sandwich. Macbeth bid farewell to Banquo and also at the same time plans for his demise.
Weakness of Each
In the first video the audience is unlikely to forget Goold’s staging of the Tempest. Banquo appears as a ghost due to sudden illumination in this production. In the second video, interpretation through effective graphic devices forces this modern adaptation of Goold.
What Each One of Them Add to My Comprehension
The first video helps me to understand that Macbeths downfall is his ambition. His deep desire for power and advancement makes the courageous Scottish general to commit evil.
