Should All Abortions Be Banned?
Student`s Name
Institutional Affiliation
Background
Abortion is an act whereby a pregnancy is terminated before the baby is born. The issue of abortion has been facing a lot of controversy in society as to whether it is right or wrong. Different cultures and religions have different believe about the case of abortion. In addition, laws have also been developed across the world to guide medical practitioners on the case of carrying out abortions. The needs of a society are inclusive in the case of abortion because terminating a life does have not only an impact on the parent but also the whole society. The society believes that every human being has the right to live. In addition, a person might terminate a life that could have been the next leader in society. As well, the issue of abortion involves individual rights in a case whereby it is not a decision to be made by an individual but rather by a third party. For instance, in the case whereby a woman has a high-risk pregnancy, then the doctors might decide to terminate it even though it is not the lady's will. Also, abortion brings about a concern in the right to freedom because some countries do not allow a mother to terminate a healthy pregnancy. Therefore, this interferes with the right to freedom of the woman.
Interest groups
Among the interest groups associated with the issue of abortion is the pro-choice group which believes that every human being has the right to decide whether they should carry out an abortion or not. They argue out that the federal government should not place restrictions the ability of people to do abortions. The aftermath of such restrictions is that many women would resolve to carry out unsafe abortion procedures which could, in turn, result in the death of fertility-related problems to the party involved. In addition, they also point out the issue of the mother being unable to provide for the child fully. This happens in the cases of a teen or unwanted pregnancy whereby the mother was not prepared to take care of another life either psychologically or financially. In such a case, they should have the choice of terminating the pregnancy instead of bringing a child on the world to suffer. In addition, some pregnancies turn out to be of high-risk and hence, endangering the lives of the mother and the child. The pro-choice supporters point out that it is necessary for a medical practitioner to terminate the pregnancy during the right period in order to save the life of the mother. Therefore, this group believes that the right to keep a baby lies within the hands of the mother and, hence, the woman has the right to choose whether they should keep the pregnancy or not. They believe that the mother has the best interest of the unborn child and the society has no right to judge or prevent her from exercising her wishes.
On the other hand, the pro-life group does not support the issue of carrying out an abortion. The supporter believes that the life of a human being begins while they still an embryo. As well, such life does not only belong to the mother but also the society. Therefore, this acts as a basis for their argument that no one has the right to terminate the life of an unborn child. Most of the supporter...
