Abnormal psychology, also known as psychopathology, is the study of behaviors related to mental disorders (Nolen-Hoeksema & Rector, 2015). The study covers a vast area of abnormalities, which include personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) as well as personality disorders. This paper seeks to offer a summary of Raballo, Pappagallo, Dell’Erba, Lo Cascio, Patane, Gebhardt and Girardi’s article on Self-disorders and clinical high risk for psychosis, which is an empirical study in help-seeking youth attending community mental health facilities common elements witnessed in Schizophrenia. In order to get the article, I used search engines such as Google and databases such as EBSCOHost, a specialist database for medical practitioners. I finally used Google Scholar, which gave me access to the article.
In the last two decades, Schizophrenia and other related psychotic disorders have been the main point of focus for most of the researchers. It is a condition, which makes a person act in abnormal ways. For example, talking to oneself, since they hear voices and could call someone’s name even in their absence without realizing it. The reason behind the concerted effort has been the fact that if the condition is contained early, the consequences arising from the condition could either be contained or delayed from occurring. Researchers have come up with a concept of Ultra-High Risk (UHR) for identifying the degree of damage could have caused. The population that is highly targeted is one that falls in the age gap of between 4 and 30 years referred to a mental facility exhibiting symptoms such as Attenuated Psychotic Symptom (APS); Trait and State Risk Factor (TSRF); and Brief Limited Psychotic Symptoms (BLIPS) (Raballo et al., 2016).
