The move to explore Mars as another planet option, is one that has rocked the media for quite some time now. Most of the people have either heard or read about the prospects from the various media platforms. There is a divide though, with a faction of the people supporting the move while others are not convinced that it is a good idea (Augustine, Kelly & Hubbard, 2017). At this point, it is important to mention that, exploring Mars as another planet that can be inhabited is a great option and one that should be encouraged across the social divide. There are quite a number of benefits to be had in respect to the exploration.
Under Barack Obama and even in continuation under Trump, there are prospects in NASA to send humans to the Martian surface for more exploration to find out whether it is a truly habitable planet. There are quite a number of reasons that should be considered for the exploration justification. One is that this offers the country a chance for discovery and scientific knowledge (Carberry & Webster, 2017). This is a planet that offers ease of reach when compared to the rest of the planets, at least for the foreseeable future (Augustine, Kelly & Hubbard, 2017). Over the last five decades, much of the exploration had been with the use of robotic machines to collect data, sending humans would be a step up in the exploration. This is also likely to spark innovation with reference to technology. Major advancements in technology are likely to result from the exploration b inspiring scientists, engineers, physicians, innovators, educators and even industrialists. This is also likely to be a source for motivation and morale boosting, inspiring nationalism and cohesion among the people.
