Review of the Work of one Biologist: Longevity

Essay Instructions:

How can developmental biologists contribute to the quest to delay aging in humans? Read about and provide a review of the work of one biologist, or group of biologists. Review their work, detailing their evidence, and cite any possible applications. Are you sold on this? See any valid applications for the work yet? 300-500 words with the highest grade point possible at 300 words.
Use APA format to cite sources. The textbook must be incorporated into the essay, in addition to outside sources. Gilbert, S, F. (2000). Developmental Biology. Sunderland (MA): Sinauer Associates.

Gilbert, S, F. (2000). Developmental Biology. Sunderland (MA): Sinauer Associates.
The main idea from the book is: "Recent Studies of mice, Caenorhabditis elegans, and Drosophila suggest that there is a conserved genetic pathway that regulates aging, and that it can be selected for during evolution. This pathway involves the response to insulin-like growth factors (Gilbert, 2000, p. 573)."
You can use other sources to compete the essay as long as the support the main idea.

For centuries man has always been intrigued by the element surrounding death, and toiled through beliefs and scientific research to try and establish the true nature of death. Ideally death is associated with age (Buffenstein, 2005). As one grows old, their chances of dying increase against all odds. Other than death, old age brings with it is complex set of challenges that are tied to the personal abilities and biological degradation of the cells in the body and therefore organs leading to poor functionality. Living in a state of slow aging process has thus become a topic of intrigue among many biologists and tentatively gerontologists.
In one of the most recent researches, Rochelle Buffenstein has published findings indicating the base model for human aging using the naked mole rats (Buffenstein, 2005). These are longest living rodents that are known to science and thus form a very intriguing subject of study in light of developing mechanisms to delay or simply resist aging (Reddien, Bermange, Murfitt, Jennings & Sánchez Alvarado, 2005). What is more intriguing is the fact that, these rodents have been known to reproduce until they die at ...
