Knowing the World through Science
I selected the Natural Sciences Major because this course gives the opportunity to select and focus on the science that you are really interested in. The key thing is we are able to get the balance right by drawing in from different topics through the different natural sciences. Unlike other majors/degrees in the School of Liberal Arts, Natural Science has a set of degree programs that offer the students a chance to major on the typical sciences like chemistry or physics which I am really interested in. The modern sciences are multidisciplinary which means that majoring in Natural Sciences gives the benefit of learning the essentials from each field and later on using that knowledge to pursue and specialize on one field.
Before entering the School of Natural Sciences, I expected to gain a wide perspective of the world through the different sciences. Having taken the Natural Science Major has not only provided that, but it has even taught me the small details of how our world works, and through the interdisciplinary element of this course, I was able to appreciate the world and at the same time, become more curious about its inner workings that science has yet to understand. Knowing that even science has yet to discover many things in our world, and that many phenomena are immeasurable and unfathomable by modern scientists has given me the thought that our world has many more things to offer.
