In this modern world, climatic change and sinking economies have become the greatest worries of many nations. There is also a rapid population growth; initially more people presented more ingenuity, talent and innovation but it is no longer the same case anymore. More people mean less land and scarce resources such as water. This has brought back the old topic about the human population and what to do with it. Developed countries are of the idea of controlling population growth but the question is how?
Population growth pushes the consumption of available resources to a higher notch leading to depletion of some. The land is becoming less and people have started invading the natural forests to get enough land for settlement and agricultural purposes. In the United States, the topic of population growth remains silent but the American population is on the rise than any other country of the world due to illegal immigration (Engelman, 2009).
More people on earth means more activities and it does not care how many of us are there, what matter is what impact we have to it. The greenhouse effect is increasing the temperature of the world making it unbearable. With the continued rapid population growth, demands for more land and food, habitats for wildlife animals are being destroyed to provide more land as endangered wild species being hunted down for food (Morrison, Marcot & Mannan, 2012).
The destruction of their habitats exposes the endangered species such elephants and rhinos to poachers who kill them for the ivory. This exposure may lead to the extinction of these species from the world. All these are due to population growth on earth.
