Suicide bombing refers to bombing conducted by individuals to kill themselves and other people. Bombings have generated much attention from insurgent groups since they are nearly impossible to detect, create publicity, and require minimal resources. An example is the 2005 London bombings. On the morning of the attack, three ordinary British citizens entered King's Cross Station and ordered three different trains. Twenty minutes later, three explosions occurred on the trains simultaneously (Larsen, 2017). The explosions resulted in 39 fatalities and more than 600 injuries. A fourth bomber caused the death of 13 people and about 100 casualties.
The British government's response was effective and immediate; the central London underground system was immediately closed. Investigators swept are for forensic evidence, and more than 6000 hours of closed-circuit footage were examined to construct a timeline of that morning's events. By July 16th, the names of the four bombers who were radicalized by Al-Qaeda deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri were released to the public, and investigations on possible accomplices began.
