Terrorism is a global threat and has substantial negative impacts on the social, economic, and political of the societies it targets. Although the impact of terrorism can be limited or once-in-a-lifetime, currently – with the gradual growth of Islamic terrorist groups including al-Qaeda and ISIS, the effects can be substantial and enduring, even though it changes over time. Usually, terrorism creates terror and a feeling of insecurity while posing a notion that the government of the day cannot protect its citizens (Moloney, 2010).
The United States has weathered many storms of terrorism either directed to the mainland or the allies and Embassies of the country. From bombings in the United States capitals such as Oklahoma City in April 1995 to the bombs in East African embassies in 1998, which led to many casuals with thousands left nursing injuries. For example, over 224, including 12 Americans, lost their lives while more than 4500 people were left with lifetime injuries (Larabee, 2017). As such, the federal agencies have implemented state-of-art interventions including the torturing of terrorists and suspected terrorists to curb acts of terrorism (Moloney, 2010).
