After reviewing the Powerpoint presentation located HERE, the crime scene simulation begins with an online video presentation of a specific case, which concerns a female body found in a bathtub. Without releasing too much information, the interactive simulation provides all that an investigator needs to do to solve the case. After completing the simulation, write 10 activities that an investigator must do to solve a case and list at least two actions for that activity that an investigator would need to do to file a complete report, understanding that anything missed at the crime scene may not be able to be used later which may affect the outcome of a case. The total points awarded for the assessment is 160 pts.

Crime scene investigation is a very important process to establish the course of death if the crime involved loss of life (Fish, Miller, Braswell & Wallace, 2013). Below are the various activities of crime scene investigation:
Activity 1- Arriving at the crime scene
Possible actions- (1) getting into the scene quickly and cautiously and (2) documenting all that is observed upon arrival (Ogle, 2012)
Activity 2- Ensuring the safety of the scene
Possible actions- (1) scanning the area for possible hazards like fire, chemicals, and weapons among other things and (2) calling in assistance to counteract any hazard spotted (Ogle, 2012).
Activity 3- Arranging for medical assistance
Possible actions- (1) take note of the identity of the arriving medical officer and (2) direct the medical officer to use just one way in and one way out to minimize crime scene contamination (Ogle, 2012).
Activity 4- Arrest any suspect
Possible actions- (1) taking in any suspect at the crime scene if it is safe to do so and (2) calling in any assistance to help arrest the suspect if need be (Ogle, 2012).
