State Judicial Systems and Civil Rights Name: Institution: Course: Date: State Judicial Systems and Civil Rights The American judiciary system is one that is quite interesting, given the fact that, this is a system that uses both the state and the federal court systems. Of interest are the state court systems in this paper. The general jurisdiction of the state courts is that they handle all cases that are not selected for federal courts. This is to mean that they interpret the state laws. Thus the states are able to maintain power and ensure that the national government does not become too strong ("Chapter 9 Courts, Crime, and Correctional Policy", 2014).
