Global Perspectives Assessment
The criminal justice system varies from one part of the world to another. The criminal justice system keeps evolving, and individuals need to stay updated on the new regulations in their region. Therefore, this paper will focus on the impact of globalization on the US justice system and compare international criminal justice systems. It will also focus on the impact of cybercrime and technology on worldwide justice systems and the different policing system worldwide. Finally, the paper will outline various criminal issues and how they have impacted the global justice system.
Impact of globalization on the US criminal justice system.
Globalization has created a connection between the US criminal justice system with other law enforcement across the world. Various criminals have taken advantage of the issue of globalization to extend their criminal activities to different parts of the world. An example is human and drug trafficking. These kinds of criminal activities affect people in different jurisdictions. Therefore, it calls for collaboration between criminal justice systems from all over the world. The US criminal justice can provide important information to law enforcement agencies in other parts of the world to aid in investigations (Dunne & Reus-Smit (Eds.) 2017).
Globally organized crime has become one of the most common criminal activities which various law enforcement agencies can only solve from different parts of the world. Therefore, globalization has left the US criminal justice system with no option but collaborate with other law enforcement systems in different parts across the world. For instance, the FBI is involved with international organizations, making it easier for it to solve crimes (Plachta & Guzior, 2020). Given that globalization will continue taking place, the US criminal justice system has to collaborate with more law enforcement organizations to help solve global crimes.
Comparison of international criminal justice systems
Globalization has led to the development of different criminal justice systems across the world. Civil law is one of the common justice systems that deal with judges' decisions in a court of law. Justice systems that use civil law has set regulations that people have to follow. Whenever an individual breaks such laws, the judges in a court of law decide the criminal's punishment. Socialist law is similar to civil law. The only difference is that the socialist law does not apply the Marxists-Leninist ideologies. In the case of socialist law, the government owns the land. The Islamic law system is highly religious, and the rules are based on the Quran. Individuals who break the law have to face the consequences as dictated in the Islamic criminal justice system. common law is created by judges and those that break it have to face the consequences. Different jurisdictions across the world use specific law systems. Such systems help bring law and order to society because people are afraid of the consequences of breaking the law.
