Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:
Distinguish between administrative staff, program staff, and custodial staff; and discuss the importance of each.
Rank the four (4) types of power available to correctional staff in order of importance (one  being the most important, four  being the least important). Provide a rationale for your ranking.
Prioritize the following corrections staff concerns, with one (1) being the most important and four (4), the least important: funding, radical inmates, multi-generations, and mental health issues in order of importance. Speculate on the major impact, whether negative or positive, that each concern will have on corrections staff overall. Justify your response.
It is widely known that corrections personnel often experience “compassion fatigue” or the reduced capacity to be empathetic of an offender’s circumstance. Speculate on both the reason for such indifference and the long term consequence of such behavior. Provide a rationale for your response.

The United States spends roughly over $80 billion on the correction facilities. This is an absurd amount of money and one the points to the incarceration culture that the country has invested in. while the debate draws some very heated discussions, the course of this paper is to establish some of the basic element of the correction facilities across the states (ToersBijns, 2017). There are a number of officers that are found in every other correction facility all of who have different duties and responsibilities. Administrators for example are also commonly referred to as wardens and they are responsible for managing the budgets at the facilities. They also manage the personnel in the facility (State of Michigan, 2017). They are responsible for monitoring the inmates, conducting searches, escorting prisoners, operating the surveillance equipment and generally enforcing the law in the facility. The program officer is responsible for counselling, custodial care, rehabilitation, inmates’ treatment, interviewing the inmates, organizing for the education of the inmates and ensuring the policies along procedures are followed. The custodian on the other hand will have different but complementary work in the facility such as dusting, waste receptacle emptying, vacuuming the facility, mopping, floor waxing and sweeping among other cleanliness duties.
At the very top of the ranks in the correction facility is the administrative power. This is the power to oversee all the operations at the facility along with the personnel that are involved in the daily activities. Ideally there are quite a number of functions and activities that take place in a correction facility all of which are carried out by the different staffs at their different ranks. The administrator makes sure there is fluidity in every other section of the facility as managed by the different staff. Policy development is a power that comes right after the administrative powers (ToersBijns, 2017). This is relative to the fact that; the policy development powers are associated with the way the facility is run (State of Michigan, 2017). This means that with the powers in policy development, the officer in charge is able to impact the manner in which certain aspects inside and outside the facility are conducted.
