The importance of creating and having an emergency response plan.
An emergency response plan reduces the organization's prospects of suffering huge losses in breaking out of the fire and other crises. Organizations need to plan for crisis management situations to reinforce their physical or personal security. First, fire persists as a daily threat in firms that could lead to physical destruction. IT system failure could expose the organization's security system to hackers due to computer viruses and affect the employees' work performance. A power cut is extremely dangerous, as security organizations would not use IT or telecoms systems and other machinery relying on electricity (Cruz-Milán et al., 2016). Terrorist attacks disorient business operations, and employees cannot work effectively during a terrorist incursion. Long-term attacks on businesses could lead to closure as employees fear for their safety. Restricted area access to premises is the last crisis management issue influencing the security situations of many companies. The security team needs to have unrestricted access to all areas to avoid unnecessary security commotions in the company could avoid. For instance, a gas leak could lead to a fire outbreak when the management restricts security personnel from accessing danger-related areas.
The need for a command center when an event occurs.
Command centers are necessary to maintain remote control in the whole process of an emergency response plan to thwart the crisis from causing more security threats (Pandey, 2018). It is through them that all activities can be run in an organized manner. A command center acts as the primary command and is responsible for preparing all the aspects of preparedness, disaster management, and emergency management (Cruz-Milán et al., 2016).
