Essay Instructions:

CCJ3700DQ7 Please read five new articles and analyze the results/analysis section of those research projects. How do the authors use data to answer research questions and hypotheses? How does the choice of theory shape the methods and results of research? What is the implication on research findings and the expectations for your project? Please respond to at least one student colleague and discuss their post.
Dropbox Assignment: Please submit your analysis section. In this section, you may lift three tables from your literature that most closely model your “hypothetical” methods to provide data to analyze. When you do this, use one paragraph to inform what is coming in the table, present the table, and then discuss what the table means. This entire section is critical and should be thorough and thoughtful where 3 pages or more would suffice.

Identifying the risks, patterns and trends in criminal behavior
In the study by Hewitt et al., (2018), the researchers focused on demographic factors, land use, sexual crime attractors, and ecological characteristics to identify and areas with high risk of sexual crime events in Canada. The researchers used data from a Canadian police database to determine patterns in sexual crimes having the identified where the places where there were more frequent reports of sexual crimes. They relied on the crime pattern and social disorganization theories to link sexual crime rates to the demographic, land use, ecological variables. Identifying the factors associated with high crime rates crime patterns helps in identifying ways to reduce the crime rate in the long-term.
Quick, Li &Brunton-Smith (2018) used data based on Bayesian multivariate spatial models to evaluate whether there are spatial crime patterns that explain crime patterns. The authors focused on violent crime and the theft-related crimes, which are the burglary, robbery, vehicle crime patterns as they utilized various Bayesian multivariate spatial models to determine the crime patterns the most relevant theories applicable to the research are informal social control (social disorganization theory) and (routine activity theory) (Quick,  Li  &Brunton-Smith, 2018, p. 24). While the data is from London it is comparable to other Anglo American countries including the US even as there are different demographic profiles.

* The table summarizes the descriptive characteristics of burglary, robbery, vehicle crime, and violent crime in the Greater London region. Subsequent analysis focused on spatial crime patterns for both violent and the nonviolent crimes. The crime types are linked spatial patterns such that violent crimes were more likely to occur in certain locations.
Criminality, at a young age is often associated with higher likelihood of engaging in criminal behavior and risky behavior in adulthood. To Stenbacka, Moberg & Jokinen (2019), those who are criminals when young are more likely to suffer substance abuse disorder and attempted suicide than the non-violent criminals and non-criminals. The researchers identified young men in the Swedish military and of other data on older men from the Swedish national registers. The data from the cohort 49,433 subjects was comprehensive to analyze the risk for causes of mortality depending on past criminal behavior, and they also focused on potential confounders on better understand how the various factors are linked. Adolescent criminality is associated with engaging in criminal behavior later in life, but interventions and social support are beneficial.
