Article 1: Benjamin, R. (2003). Salem witch trials, magazine of history, Vol. 17(4), p32-36 is an article that explains about the witch trials of Salem of 1692. According to the article, the witch trials were used as a lens to observe the whole of the Puritan era in New England. It also served as a model for religious prejudice, fallacy and social persecution. However, it goes on to insist that when all these views are appropriate, the actions and words of the real people who are involved have been passed due to unavailability of the original records of the court. Due to this, the witchcraft incident is assumed to be an unreasonable social anomaly or as a result of food poisoning, or a disease caused by cereals. The people who took part in the incident are reduced to stereotypes of one dimension. The article is a lesson plan and it is divided into two parts. One part uses primary sources to examine the court records concerning witch trials of the 17th century and the other uses artistic explanations to understand how the witchcraft incident is being represented by future generations in images.
