Native Americans and the American Foreign Relations
Native Americans are indigenous people or aboriginals of the United States of America (USA). The relationship between American Indians and the USA government has been complex since the beginning. Until now, the USA foreign policy has not fully assimilated Native Americans into the country’s mainstream culture.
Native Americans significantly influenced American foreign relations. In particular, the perception of the USA has been reflected in the manner it treats American Indians. That is the reason why the country succumbed to pressure from other nations and agencies to federally recognize Native Americans who were initially displaced from their early settlements (Hopkins, 2014). Traditionally, Americans did not consider American Indians to be related to its foreign affairs. The government discriminated against these individuals and pushed them away in an attempt to take their arable land.
The interaction between the USA and Native Americans was full of rage. Specifically, violence is the appropriate term to describe the relationship during the colonial period.
