Art has remained an important practice since time immemorial. Visual art through painting has remained a predominant form of art that masses around the globe enjoy watching. Art embraces and preserves cultures, traditions, and heritage of most communities as most of the artwork involves some practices or some images a community consider important to them. Art aims at educating people based on many things, such as myths, cultures, folklore and historical experiences. La Maison de la Cray (The old mill) is one of the famous art paintings by Vincent Gogh, Visual arts are remarkable works as displayed in museums, and some of the art lovers use art pieces for decoration purposes in their houses. The piece is the beautiful structure, which is oil on canvas. The artist made the piece in the year 1888. As seen through history, Vincent van Gogh left the winter environment in Paris and moved to a different climate in a different town, Arles. He got inspiration from Mother Nature, where there was some variegation in the specific areas of southern France. From the inspiration, he made two hundred paintings in fifteen months. In the paintings, one of the remarkable paintings was “The Old Mill.” In this specific artwork, Van Gogh depicted the mill with a thick application of paint. The decorations used in the painting included exaggerated angles alongside lively visual effects. Van Gogh was one of the peculiar talented artists as seen through his ability to do free coloring from mental imagery and descriptions. Reproduction of objects on canvas was important as on the canvas, as the objects seemed to appear as if they were seen in real life. In the piece, he also used color to express the subject matter as it appeared through his mental imageries. From a different audience, art audience criticized Van Gogh for working in a rush (Francisco, 2011). However, he was careful with his brushwork of this painting revealed his artistic ability and prowess.
