Globalization and Culture
The ideas expressed in the video, are in my opinion, credible and veritable. Globalization has had a huge impact on the economic, political, legal, and technological aspects as well as how cultures interact with each other. Ideally, many choices that people make are directly influenced by globalization. Due to increased international immigration and accessibility to the internet, ideologies, values, ideas, and cultural practices are easily relayed across national and cultural borders.
However, critics have argued that globalization is unilateral to a certain degree largely due to existing political and economic inequalities (Globalization and Culture Video). This, in essence, means that a small minority of influential and powerful establishments, mainly from the West, inflict their values and ideas on the less developed. Because they have the economic wherewithal necessary to produce a majority of the world’s media, they impose modes of cultural expression on others who are poorly endowed.
