The 1920s saw a period of prosperity and economic growth in the United States. Economic growth attributes to the nation's modern economic position in the global markets. Various factors contributed to these changes. The growth was primarily due to increased foreign trade and investment, changes in consumer spending behavior, and technological advancements that led to more efficient production methods. Radio play and motion pictures changed the cultural attitudes of Americans towards consumer goods and trade.
The increase in foreign trade was because many European countries were still recovering from World War I and were looking to buy American goods. These changes allowed the U.S. economy to grow at an unprecedented rate, creating jobs and putting money into consumers' pockets (Tomizawa et al., 2020). The increase in foreign trade led to an influx of money into the U.S., which helped fuel a construction boom in cities across America. The increased demand for products also created jobs for people who were unemployed during the recession.
Changes in consumer spending and behavior also contributed to economic growth in the 1920s.
