The Evolution of Democracy in the Early Republic
The US (United States of America) remains one of the most significant countries in world history. While some people look at the country in terms of the economic milestones and advancements in the military, others are interested in studying its history to understand how it has transitioned into politics over time. However, a significant part of US history relates to leadership dating back when it attained independence. A scrutiny of the leadership and management style each of its former presidents applied happens to be at the center of the most critical factors that many studies consider to give opinions on their successes and failures. For instance, there are differences that one can depict when comparing the American Republic under the leadership of Jefferson versus Jackson.
According to Adler (2018, p. 3), Thomas Jefferson was the third president in the US. The author acknowledges the former president whose ideals supported individuals' rights in the aspects of life, liberty, and the search for happiness. In his exercise of duty as the president, he strived to push for empowerment of the State governments and their strengthening as opposed to the Federal government. He had an immense belief that there was a reason to limit the Federal powers, and his term saw one of the administrations that were determined to the inclusion and support for the Bill of Rights. Jefferson's presidency was characterized by a limited democracy element, where only voting right was only reserved to the whites who owned property.
