Civilization is the process which involves transforming the social development and reorganization of human society to the most-advanced stage (Fathima, 2013). There are some parameters that have been used globally by different nations to categorize the level of civilization. Examples include national security, food, infrastructure, economy of the nation, religion, cultural practices, and education systems. The spread of civilization, thus, differs with the ease of availability of the above parameters. Age of a society, their geographical location and population all contribute significantly to how civilizations spread their influence (Stein, 2010). These parameters play a key role in determining civilization in a given society. The spread of civilization differs significantly among communities owing to the difference of societal constructs within that society. The paper focuses on three major techniques used in the spread of civilization and shows how the social and cultural parameters affect the spread of civilization.
Techniques of civilization and how they spread their influence
Colonization is one of the techniques that have been used in the spread of civilization. Rich nations have throughout the history conquered weaker nations and spread their influence (Diamond, 2001). Example of a colony is the United States of America, which was colonized by the Europeans in the mid 15th century. Influence of colonization on the civilization of a nation is evident in their culture. Colonialism differs from other techniques of spreading civilization in that the nation being colonized is occupied. Their freedom and practices are stripped away from the colonized people, and they are forced to adapt new ways.
