The roaring twenties was a period that was marked by various technological inventions and social change. In Canada many changes occurred in regard to culture, the economy and politics. It must however be noted that not all people gained from this period. For example, prairie farmers were negatively affected by the collapse of the wheat market. Equally, the rate of unemployment skyrocketed as soldiers returning home created a surplus in the labor market (Guth, 2016). By the mid—1920s however, things started looking good as the market for raw materials including timber and wheat improved. Women were also granted the right to vote and a great say in politics. In essence, the country became less dependent from Britain and became more autonomous.
The roaring twenties was a great time for women in Canada as they were granted the right to vote both in provincial and federal elections.
