In conclusion, we therefore clearly observe that there is no conformity of laws in the two contracts. The miscellaneous law clearly indicated all the “don’ts”, but the same laws are later enforced in the Virginia laws. A good example of the mishap between the two laws is where the miscellaneous prohibits fornication, but in Virginia’s law, there is a clause which seeks to free children born out of an Englishman fornicating with a Negro woman. The Virginia laws acknowledges the intermarriages between the slaves and their colonial masters and tries to look at some ways of bettering the lives of children born by enslaved women.
