JAPAN AND KOREA
The Nara period between the years AD 710 to 794 when Japan was quite advanced in reference to agriculture. Most of the people lived in villages at the time. Most importantly, it was during this time that economic and administrative activities increased within the capital. The period was also characterized with a fight at the imperial court. Buddhism was also established in Japan during this period with power being held by the Fujiwara and Buddhist priests. The Heian period ,on the other hand, saw the rise of not only Buddhism, but also Taoism. This was also the height of the Imperial court. There were great advances in literature, poetry and art. During the Kamakura period much of the power belonged to the Kamakura shogunate. This is a period that is common for the establishment of the warrior caste, feudalism and even the emerge of the samurai culture. The Goryeo period in Korea was ruled over general Wang Kon, with a capital at Songdo. During the period art with a decorative touch was highly developed.
During the Goryeo period, the culture of the Koreans was highly influenced by the Chinese. This is relative to the fact that the two had good relations.
