Many Americans believed that the 1960s was the dawn of their golden age. In other words, they had hope that their country will change for the better where almost everyone would feel free and get a chance to be employed. Moreover, people started various movements, such as the Women’s Liberation Movement (WLM) to demand their rights. For instance, the WLM was a feminist intellectualism and a political women movement that began in the 1960s. Indeed, it welcomed significant cultural, political, and intellectual changes in the Western World. The evolution of American political history since the 1960s was attributed to numerous factors, such as WLM, the Civil Rights Act (1964), and southern strategy.
The evolution of American politics was crucial since it was geared to ensuring that all people are equal regardless of their gender, culture, or place of birth. Traditionally, women were discriminated against by men, and they were not allowed to hold any job positions. However, the WLM changed that perspective and created a way for females to be recognized socially, economically, and politically (Chap. 3). The southern strategy emanated from the Republican Party and was an electoral method whose purpose was to appeal to racism against black people and encourage them to support white voters. Therefore, since the 1960s, American politics started changing to consider the needs and priorities of different groups of people.
