Africa was one of many continents colonized by Europeans during the industrial revolution which has brought a wide array of effects to the present situation of its nations today. One of the methods used in determining the impact of European colonization in Africa is through cost-benefit approach in which the main goal is to find whether colonialism was beneficial for Africa or not.
Analyzing all the costs involved and the benefits derived requires different factors and aspects taken into consideration: trade, technical advance, European investment, government expenditure, taxes, money, regulatory action, opportunity costs, education, law and order, and political coercion (Manning, 1974).
