I am required to write about my experience and answer the following questions. I volunteered with a few of my fellow classmates we prepped meals for homeless population, cut veggies, made salad, washed dishes and perform every day chores while prepping food for the homeless. Homelessness had been a long-standing problem all over the world, regardless of the economic status of countries, this issue has not been eradicated. I had an opportunity last March 13, 2020, to have a personal experience with the homeless. Together with some of my classmates, I volunteered at a Community Resource for the Homeless.
Our group planned on spending a day and providing meals for the homeless. The whole process of organizing the flow and the necessities, preparation of materials and food, and the packing up would be done by us, but of course with the guidance of the staff at Community Resource for the Homeless. I believe this kind of charity work would be beneficial to homeless people because this would provide them with food and drinks which are considered a necessity for everyone. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, these homeless people are still trying to secure their basic needs. Physiological needs are still unstable for the homeless because they do not have a place to rest. Being homeless does not only mean that they do not have homes but this also affects other aspects such as their food and water supply, and warmth.
The population we had interacted with and spent the day with are the homeless comprising of a mixture of different families and individuals of all ages, but most of them are elderly. I have also observed that most of them are native Americans, Hispanics, and African A...
