Alexander (Guidry, 2018). The hospital’s partners include Tulane University Schools of Medicine and Louisiana State University (Guidry, 2018). The services offered by University Medical Center New Orleans include emergency care and specialty care. More so, the hospital also boasts of being the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the entire region. Their passion and dedication towards offering the best medical care using the best technology are clearly stated in their mission and vision. The type of services offered by hospitals is important in ensuring customer satisfaction. It is therefore important to evaluate the level of care given to patients in hospitals. Throughout the years, several patients have visited UMC New Orleans to get medical assistance due to which a reasonable amount of data has been collected to gauge the quality of their services. The paper aims at analyzing the performance of UMC New Orleans based on data collected from Medicare, and compare the performance of the hospital with West Jefferson Medical Center and Touro Infirmary. Analysis of the performance of University Medical Center New Orleans The analysis of UMC New Orleans hospital is based on data collected from patients’ experiences, and timely and effective care offered by the hospital. Patients' Experiences According to the survey conducted by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), 75% of patients reported that they were pleased with the communication from the nurses. However, the level was lower than that of the number of patients who reported that they always received good communication from their doctors, which was 82%. In addition, only 55% of patients reported that they received assistance when required. Additionally, 61% of patients claimed to have received an explanation from staff on how to use the medication prescribed to them (Medicare.gov, 2018). Timely and Effective Care This type of data is based on the type of care given to patients with certain conditions and the timeliness of their tests. According to the information, 92% of patients received appropriate advice from the hospital concerning follow up on screening colonoscopy. In addition, 81% of patients with cancer that had spread to the bone were able to receive radiation therapy. Concerning the preventive care, 95% of health care workers received influenza vaccinations (Medicare.gov, 2018). Comparison with West Jefferson Medical Center and Touro Infirmary.
