Due Date: Jan 29, 2017 23:59:59 Max Points: 150
Details:
Consider the population in which the solution is intended, the staff that will participate, and the key contributors that must provide approval and/or support for your project to be implemented. These stakeholders are considered your audience.
Develop an implementation plan (1,500-2,000 words) using the "Topic 3: Checklist" resource. The elements that should be included in your plan are listed below:
1.Method of obtaining necessary approval(s) and securing support from your organization's leadership and fellow staff.
2.Description of current problem, issue, or deficit requiring a change. Hint: If you are proposing a change in current policy, process, or procedure(s) when delivering patient care, describe first the current policy, process, or procedure as a baseline for comparison.
3.Detailed explanation of proposed solution (new policy, process, procedure, or education to address the problem/deficit).
4.Rationale for selecting proposed solution.
5.Evidence from your Review of Literature in Topic 2 to support your proposed solution and reason for change.
6.Description of implementation logistics (When and how will the change be integrated into the current organizational structure, culture, and workflow? Who will be responsible for initiating the change, educating staff, and overseeing the implementation process?)
7.Resources required for implementation: staff; educational materials (pamphlets, handouts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations); assessment tools (questionnaires, surveys, pre- and post-tests to assess knowledge of participants at baseline and after intervention); technology (technology or software needs); funds (cost of educating staff, printing or producing educational materials, gathering and analyzing data before, during, and following implementation), and staff to initiate, oversee, and evaluate change.

Hospital Acquired Infections
Treating patients is not without complications, some of which can be avoided. One of the most common complications in health care delivery is the hospital acquired infections. According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, quoting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at any one time there is always a patient in twenty-five that are infected while they are in hospital. This translates to 650,000 patients who contract infections in hospital annually (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2017). What is most significant is the cost of the HAIs in terms of human lives, socially and economically. While in the past the infections were taken to be a normal element of the health care delivery systems, however recent research indicates there are straight forward elements that can help reduce the infections and the impacts associated with them (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2017). Education is one of the most effective in reducing the HAIs (Mehta et al., 2014).
To gain the necessary approvals and secure support for the project to implement the education program to reduce the rate of HAIs at the hospital, there are a number of aspects to be considered. The first approach in gaining the approval of the leadership relative to the implementing the education system, is to indicate the cost of the infections to the hospital and the rate of satisfaction (MacDonald, 2017). The hospital and the patients spend billions of dollars, in treating and managing the infections which could be avoided in the first place. This means much of the resources are dedicated to managing a problem that can be avoided. By reducing the infections, this opens an entire frontier of resources, which can then be directed towards more resource intensive treatments and care practices (Collins, 2017). This will then result in exponential growth in the rate of patient satisfaction. The other approach will include getting the approval from the fellow staff. By sensitizing the staff on the benefits on an education program and the improvements it will bring to health care delivery and the exponential growth in positive outcomes, the staff informed on importance of having the implementation process start. It is important the staff understand how education will increase their ability to offer quality care and the positive impacts of the same (Zimlichman et al., 2013). To this effect the staff will be requested to sign a request form showing their support for the education system (Commission on Education and Training for Patient Safety, 2017).
Hospital acquires infections are some of the most common complications that take place when treating patients. Currently, the problem costs an estimated $9.8 billion US dollars every other year (Waknine, 2013). This indicates massive resources that are diverted towards the efforts of treating and managing the infections (Wellington, 2017). What is important is the impacts the infections have on patient satisfaction, health care outcomes and the personal implications on the health care practitioners at the top of the most common HAIs is the surgical site infection, which contributes an estimate...
