Abstract
The central venous catheters are essential in ensuring patient care in the ICU. However, the improper placement and maintenance of the devices lead to infections that can cause a patient’s death. An effective method of preventing this is critical in ensuring that patients in intensive care do not get more health challenges that delay their recovery. The use of the standard procedures such as hand disinfection while injecting or dressing central lines reduce cases of CLABSI. However, some errors occur that contribute to the prevalence of infections. The central line bundles present a means that the problem can be tackled to ensure the safety of patients in the ICU. The evidence-based practice would assure that nurses follow the right process and procedures during inserting and maintaining of the central lines. As a result, morbidity issues, fatalities, and health expenses would decline. The communication of the new evidence-based practice is paramount to make sure that those involved acquire the details regarding its application and benefits.
