Personal Teaching Philosophy
The brain is a muscle, and like any other muscles, it requires to develop. Instead of lifting weights, however, brain muscle can be trained through learning. Learning involves adding to the current knowledge with new knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and perceptions (Prozesky, 200). As a teacher, my focus is on the encouragement of mastery of skills, serving as a mentor, and encouraging life-long learning habits. I want my students to be open-minded so that they may have different perceptions and understanding of the world. Students should not be confined to the schedules of the current curriculum. Instead, I prefer my students to open up and tell their stories as they are without fear.
For this teaching foe philosophy, I tend to focus more on practical and real-life situations rather than just theory. One way of delivery in my teaching philosophy is through the application of case studies where students try to solve real-life situations. Team-based learning is another key concept of my philosophy.
