Saint Rose Hospital provides surgical operations to its patients. The services are ordinarily extensive and are carried out professionally. During my clinical rotation at the hospital, I had the chance to observe a C-section delivery being carried out in the operating room. The patient was given some teaching before the operation and after. Preoperative education improves the outcomes of patients as well as their satisfaction with the surgical experience. The patients was taken through the instructions and procedures verbally. The post-operation education, on the other hand, served to instruct the patient on what she was to do after the operation to keep herself and the baby safe.
The perioperative period began immediately after the patient was informed the need for surgery and ended when she resumed her normal activities. The perioperative nursing care has three areas which are the Preoperative, Intraoperative and the postoperative areas. The perioperative phase began when the patient was informed why she needed surgery and agreed to have the operation done. The period prepared the patient not only psychologically but also physically for the surgery. Medical routines and diagnostic studies were conducted during this phase. This phase to supported, educated and prepared the patient for the procedure.
The Intraoperative phase took place after she was transferred to the operating room and ended when she was taken to the perioperative nursing care unit. The patient was examined anesthetized, prepped, dressed, and operated. This phase facilitate her surgical operation, prevented infection, and ensured that she responded well to the anesthesia.
