Stress and immune response Name Institution of Affiliation Date Stress and immune response In my life, I have been through stress many times. However, the worst incident occurred in the year 2006. This was when two of my close relatives passed on after they were involved in a serious road accident. When I received the news about the accident it really affected me and I collapsed. I was later admitted to the hospital. I lost my memory and unfortunately, in the hospital, I was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder. I faced difficulties admitting the medication since I never understood what had gone wrong with me. To make matters worse, my stay in the hospital was much longer than I had projected initially. I had to cooperate with the support group who made a significant impact on my recovery. The counsel from the support group members was fruitful. The incident inspired me to join a support group focused on bipolar disorder. My motive is to help individuals who are suffering from the same disorder. My success will be measured by my ability to help out as many patients as possible. Bipolar disorder It is a mood disorder. The syndrome is characterized by symptoms such as mania, feeling sad, hypomania, stroke, depression, marked reduced interest in almost all activities, fatigue, feeling unworthy, poor sleep, recurrent of death thoughts and impairment (Mayo, 2016). Among the possible causes of this disorder is stress. Studies have established that bipolar disorder occurs in the brain. The occurrence is attributed to certain dysfunction of chemical messengers or neurotransmitters. The chemicals include serotonin, norepinephrine and other body hormones (Bressert, 2016). These substances can be produced as the body fights stress (Padget, 2003). Thus, demonstrating that stress causes bipolar disorder. However, it has been found that the condition may stay dormant till activated by certain factors in the body. Theories have been put forward to explain the cause of Bipolar disorder.
