This is one of the main reasons that cause normal sighted individuals to go blind. Any injury that damages the optical nerve or eye muscles that move the eyeball cause blindness. Other injuries are accidental or unavoidable i.e. During surgeries when doctors are carrying out complicated surgeries on an eye or parts of the brain i.e. Removal of tumors or cancerous tissues. In other instances, the eyeball or the eye muscles are damaged when they suffer a shock from an object. Diseases and other genetic conditions are another major cause of blindness. One of the leading diseases that cause blindness is cancer. Other diseases that because blindness include; Glaucoma which refers to a condition that damages the optic nerves. Refractive errors which are defined as the inability of the eye to focus on objects in the environment also causes visual impairment.
