Current and Future Educational Challengers for the Nurse Educators
The modern nursing education system has established a veritable goldmine disposal technique that involves advancement in curricula, nursing models, and simulators through adaptation of modern technological advancements. Nursing educators are therefore in a position to disseminate nursing knowledge to the learners in a more modernized way. The teaching for nursing is however faced with challenges especially with an adaptation of new technologies like online learning which is considered as the new way of learning (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2012). This paper addresses the issue of technology advancement in the transformation of nursing education system as the current trend in the field of nursing.
Development and expansion of computer technologies in the education system have not yet indicated a complete revolution in the way of educating nursing and patients. This has however posed a challenge of adaptation of the new technologies to the practitioners. For an educator to ensure effective teaching through modern learning, he does require not only adequate knowledge in nursing but also master various means of disseminating information to the students using modern methods (Morelock, 2018). Educators have the challenge to adopt the current knowledge delivery systems which are essential in bringing nursing education experience to live to the students through a demonstration of the implementation of the new learning knowledge. The discovery and implementation of new knowledge in the learning system continue to advance educational techniques through improved technology in healthcare systems.
For the past 100 years, nursing education has experienced rapid progress through the presentation of formal, modernized, and standardized learning approaches to nursing education (Krau, 2015). The primary focus of the 21st-century nursing education was to educating women of the post-victoria age to assist physicians in the provision of healthcare services (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2012). The nursing leaders and physicians played a dominant role in providing and shaping nursing education through the development of epistemological nursing as a profession. The education system of the olden days aimed at suppressing the nursing education such that it does not rival that of the physicians to avoid professional conflict. The early nursing education system had therefore minimal development with some specialists in the healthcare field considered more superior than others.
Currently, nursing education is based on the intellectual development of the nursing techniques and practices which is covered in the transition of online delivery of education. The transformation in health care is creating a need for the rapid transition of the nursing education which influences the educators. The modern learning is greatly influencing the educators, learners, healthcare providers and the patients across the entire society and culture.
