The beta and alpha values are crucial in statistics, relative to the interpretation that is made from any data analysis within a given research findings. These are values that relate to the critical value. The beta value is one that is related to the Type II error, the part of the alternative distribution that falls on the side of the line graph that reflects what has not been rejected (Essoe, 2015). As such, it is the probability of accepting the hypothesis setout in the research. The alpha value on the other hand is the probability of rejecting a hypothesis and further relates to the Type I error. The interpretation as such is affected by the fact that, if there are changes in the values, the data interpretation changes. Before one conducts a statistical research, they have to set the alpha value that asserts the level of significance (Essoe, 2015). A smaller alpha value, is indicative of the fact that, the chances of an error taking place is low. If the alpha value is increased this also increases the chance for rejecting the hypothesis(Frost, 2015).
If the alpha value is increased by a small margin, th...
