Low Funding in University Hospitals
Introduction
University hospitals are not under direct government budgeting. Most of them rely upon the allocations from the institutions budget that comes from the fee paid by the students. A little money can be generated from the university healthcare charges to patients. Less funding leads to insufficient care. For students, the condition worsens for the learning generation that cannot afford private hospitals. Their education will be significantly affected(Field, 2007). However, the problem that leaves people wondering has its sources. Here is an analysis of the reasons why university hospitals have less funding compared to others and an assessment of the situation which will prove that the problem requires attention.
Source of problem
The first contributor to less financing foruniversity hospitals is the confusion in the health insurance sector. Students get to university while under the care of parents health insurance which the family subscribe to. In university, they are to register for other medical cares as adults. At this registration, the healthcare insurance institutions decline. The amount of money would result in losses or lower profits. For their businesses, they would require funding the students and staff members but only on conditions that they register in new hospitals. The university hospital then remains without patients to fund its operations.
Universities do not take full care of their health institutions. A good number provide low quality treatment. Other details of management are left to insurance bodies. When a university does not have full control of the hospitals, it is hard to fund them. It will drive away patients who will not be able to acquire such health care. It then results in the scrutiny for the effectiveness of the care they provide. With lower scores, they do not acquire the approval to provide the full suppo...
