Evidence-Based Practice Proposal: Evaluation of Process
The research uses questionnaires and scaled checklists in collecting the outcome data due to the flexibilities of the methods and ease of data collection. Questionnaires provide the capability of obtaining large quantities of information from large sample groups within a shorter period and lesser costs (Quinlan, Kane, & Trochim, 2008). Also, results obtained using questionnaires can be quantified with ease both manually or by use of analytical software and hence, the ease of determining change based on data comparison. On the other hand, scaled checklists ease the assessment of the situation and the most probable fall hazards, thereby contributing towards decision making on the best approaches towards promoting a safe hospital environment characterized by minimal or no falls for the elderly patients. The scaled checklists can be integrated into the daily routines of the hospital, thereby enhancing the continuous identification and elimination of fall hazards (Health Research & Educational Trust, 2016).
Questionnaires and checklists collect data and information focused on the common causes of falls within the hospital environment, activities during falls and the number of falls recorded over a given period. Data collected is compared with the previous cases before the intervention towards decreasing the number of falls is implemented (Rao, 2005). When the reported cases decline over the study period, then the objective of the project will be achieved. An integral adoption of questionnaires and checklists ensures that feedback on the program is provided at all times, and the degree of satisfaction by both the patients and the employees is another indicator of a successful project.
The outcomes of the project will be measured through data analysis and information reviews followed by a comparison of pretest data. The outcomes should be able to provide precise information on the number of falls recorded within the hospital environment before and after the adoption of the interventions. The current contributors of falls and the context of falls should also be notable from the outcome for the data to be val...
