Examples of scholarly activities include attending conferences, seminars, journal club, grand rounds, morbidity and mortality meetings, interdisciplinary committees, quality improvement committees and any other opportunities available at your site, within your community or nationally.
You are required to post one scholarly activity while you are in the BSN program, which should be documented by the end of this course. In addition to this submission, you are required to be involved and contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives on a regular basis.
Submit, as the assignment, a summary report of the scholarly activity, including who, what, where, when and any relevant take-home points. Include the appropriate program competencies associated with the scholarly activity as well as future professional goals related to this activity. You may use the "Scholarly Activity Summary" template to help guide this assignment.
While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Overview
The one-day seminar on the topic Adolescents’ Identity Development in the USA was organized by the Maryland University College, Baltimore on 12th August 2016 in at the University Hall. This was an open forum for discussion in the numerous areas of interests regarding the identity development in adolescents. The seminar was supported by both the University administration and the local government of Baltimore. Two public health scholars from California were the guest speakers. Martin Fenstersheib, MD, MPH, Health Officer, Public Health Department of Sana Clara County of California and Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, MD, MPH for Los Angeles County. The guests included delegates from the Maryland University, 13 other scholars, parents, caregivers, and students. The seminar was beneficial since it led to the improvement of independent investigation as well as providing a source of information for a future research topic in the area of study that based on adolescent development processes.
Identity development Issue
Adolescence is usually a transitional stage that is filled with issues of development ranging from hormonal changes, physical changes as well as emotional and psychological development. This period also encompasses the autonomy and identity establishment. Identity in adolescence usually results in emotional consequences for an individual that may have either short or long term impacts (Erikson, 1956). Teenagers who are able to cultivate positive identity after the stage usually advance well in adulthood. Contrarily, some adolescents have been experiencing problems associated with growth and development, mental disorders, pregnancies, injuries and infectious disease. Others include schizophrenia, psychological disorders, and eating disorders. Therefore, adolescents tend to display behavior changes, experiment different outfits, forming groups and try new activities while others engage in sexual behaviors. In such situations proper handling of these teens is crucial. Thus, they need guidance as they under exploration of new ideas and roles as well as learning things of their own interests (Gutgesell & Payne, 2004).
