Lymph nodes throughout our body act like tiny filters that subdue bacteria and other harmful microbes that enter our bloodstreams. Overall, the lymph nodes are a part of our lymphatic system that filters the interstitial fluids between our cells. These tiny glands can be palpated throughout our body such as the neck, groin, and armpits (Cancerresearchuk.org, n.d.). This is of prime importance because microbes can easily fit within the membrane as well as the spaces that exist not only outside but also within our cells.
