The rapid advancement of technology has made it possible for scientists to design robots that can be used in the healthcare sector. In particular, robots are machines that resemble humans and can replicate various functions and movements performed by people if programmed to do so. For example, they can be input knowledge by computer programmers to perform surgery and do it perfectly. Some hospitals have already started using robots in their operating rooms. As such, the use of robots in healthcare can improve the quality of patient care, particularly when physicians are also involved in guiding them since they lack creativity.
“Can Robots Handle Your Healthcare?” by Nicola Davies portrays that the use of robots is the future of the medical industry. In the next few decades to come, these machines will be used for routine tasks in healthcare. Anthony Goldbloom, an expert in machine learning, made it clear that robots can store more information from books and articles pertaining to various subjects and later apply that knowledge when the need arises (Davies, 2016). In other words, they can accumulate relevant information, which is something that humans cannot do. Robots can perform repetitive activities with high precision and identify patterns. However, the only things that these machines cannot do are being creative and empathizing with patients. Consequently, robots can work well in healthcare alongside physicians.
