In their article, "Do System-Based Interventions Affect Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection?" Halm and O’Connor (2014) have addressed the issue of whether system-based interventions affect catheter-linked urinary tract infection. According to this article, urinary catheters are commonly used is today’s clinical care. However, there lacks a proper catheter indication to be used and problems with catheter are caused by no clear instructions on catheter removal, misinterpretation of necessity and doctor’s lack of knowledge of the presence of a catheter. Most urinary tract infections in the U.S are associated with catheter due to prolonged use. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, this problem can be solved by use of universal based implementation of evidence-oriented prevention measures (Halm & O’Connor, 2014).
