Personal Opinion on Nursing as a Career
There is no doubt as to the increasing role of the healthcare sector being part of a necessary element of human existence. It joins other components, including shelter, clothing, and shelter as fundamental elements that if avoided would result in massive misery for humanity. In essence, this marks the primary inspiration to pursue nursing as a career where the course of humanity is at stake (Motakpalli, Shabeen, Jamadar, & Bendigeri, 2018). In as much as I want to have an impact in society, I have to ensure that my contribution aligns with personality and interests I behold. In this case, a teacher has a similar end goal, but then am less attracted in teaching. This assertion invites the course for the pursuance of nursing as a career. In this course, I am convinced that I am connected to the people that need my help most. Even better is the fact that I can witness immediate results from a day’s range to an annual basis. Nevertheless, the impact that these results has on the overall individual’s feelings and wellness is unrivaled.
Besides the aspect of taking care of individuals, I can get acquainted with one of the most paced professions in healthcare (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). Ordinarily, human beings get bored at doing repetitive things every day and it gets worse when they cannot actualize or adapt to any changes in their workplace. This assertion appreciates the dynamism that is becoming prominent in the healthcare profession where a nurse has to attend to quirky patients and the following moment they have to make a split-second decision on what is best for a patient in the emergency room. Beyond, technology is becoming an integral element in the health care sector, meaning that there are interesting times ahead.
Personal Qualities that Qualify Me to be a Nurse
A person who endures to be a nurse and in this case, one who is certain that it is their passion has to possess major personal qualities that cement this conviction. First and foremost, one of the best qualities that places me in this category is the empathetic disposition. Empathy is quite distinguished from sympathy in that it entails the ability to relate to someone else’s needs beyond the surface level (Bauchat, Seropian, & Jeffries, 2016) Thus, when treating a patient, the act thereof is more than the mere provision of the service to articulating the actual status of their innate state. It is in this state that the nurse develops a more trustful relationship with the patient and thus gains a better position in which they can offer their compassion and comfort (Sinclair et al., 2017).
